Where to publish your extensions?

If you are a chrome extension developer you may want to know where else it is possible to publish your creations. Of course the first place is at the official place. Here there is an easy-to-navigate interface ready to take in all of your projects.

You will need to make your entire extension folder into a .zip before uploading it to Google. Also you need to upload some screenshots (or videos) of your extension in action.

The second place is Chromeextensions.org. Here your extension needs to be approved first before being displayed - a process that takes more than a week! But the good thing is that once approved your new extension goes on the front-page and will get many potential users. Infact some of my extensions had more users within the 2 days of being published on Chromeextensions.org than they had in the week of being on https://chrome.google.com/extensions .

  1. I would personally avoid using "chromeextensions.org", since updating extensions is much harder if you have it in two places. Also, you need to save your certificate when uploading to "chromeextensions.org" if you ever want to update the extension... you don't have to save anything at all in order to update an extension on the official extension gallery.
