Gmail Notifier

I mentioned some possible improvements that the Google Mail extension needs to have in my previous post. Now, I have found a new extension that brings all the improvements to life.

When you get a new mail this extension actually pops up a small window on the right bottom corner immediately. This is extremely useful for when you want to know exactly when you receive an email.

One Extension To Rule Them All

My previous post on twitter extensions has resulted in a few users commenting about the effectiveness of having a single extension where users can select which twitters to follow instead of many separate ones.

MarcusT has kindly pointed out some ways I can make this possible. Now I have to admit I did not originally want to make a single "super" extension so I never delved deep into the documentation to solve the challenges.

So I'm going to see if I'm interested enough to undertake a this challenge. I already have other extensions I have thought of, so I will see how that goes as well.

My stats show the other stand-alone twitters have been downloaded about 500 times in 3 days. Also, I'm getting a reasonable amount of returning visitors, showing that people are actually using these extensions.

Just for some fun here are the most popular twitters that people have used:
  1. CNN
  2. TIME.com
  3. Lady Gaga

In the meantime I want to thank patorjk, gavin m and MarcusT for their suggestions. :-)

Where to publish your extensions?

If you are a chrome extension developer you may want to know where else it is possible to publish your creations. Of course the first place is at the official place. Here there is an easy-to-navigate interface ready to take in all of your projects.

You will need to make your entire extension folder into a .zip before uploading it to Google. Also you need to upload some screenshots (or videos) of your extension in action.

The second place is Chromeextensions.org. Here your extension needs to be approved first before being displayed - a process that takes more than a week! But the good thing is that once approved your new extension goes on the front-page and will get many potential users. Infact some of my extensions had more users within the 2 days of being published on Chromeextensions.org than they had in the week of being on https://chrome.google.com/extensions .

    Football Crazy

New - Advertising Opportunities on this extension. Read this blog post.

You have probably wondered why I have not updated this blog for a few days now. The reason is a good one. I have been busy building some football (or soccer) extensions. It has taken me about one week and I am quite happy with the results. So here are all the extensions for your favorite teams.

You can see up-to-date fixtures, results, table and latest news all in one place

If you want me to make an extension for another team just request it in the comments.

    Enjoy!
